The dance move called 'The Dab' is officially dead!!!
Unless you're the sort of person who is still comfortable wearing ‘Ama Kip Kip’ t-shirts or a ‘spinners’ belt in 2016, this means it is now socially unacceptable to engage in "the dab" in public.

We all love the dab. It’s classy, looks dope, feels like a decent move, and most importantly, it’s easy to learn, and requires very negligible amount of energy to pull off.

In the quest for the perfect Nigerian dance, “the dab” has been the easiest so far to learn, rising in prominence among the young folks, who are naturally the first to pick up on any craze. The reasons for its meteoric rise and inclusion in our pop culture was simple: it came from the West, popularized from the creative hotbed of Atlanta, and seeping down to us as well, all other things do. It was also easy to learn, perhaps very easy.

dab dance

Alanta needed you to scratch like a mad man, Azonto was for rocket scientists with all of that oscillating limbs, rhythmically complex hand movements and energy. Shoki needed the best of your waist to accomplish. And it also didn’t help that it was open to interpretation, with everybody personalizing the dance and making others feel like their ‘Shoki’ was the best. It was really morale-deflating stuff, and became a horror show later. Sekem, well. Sekem came from an untrusted source, and only Michael Jackson enthusiasts, can drag one foot across the floor, leaving the other lifeless, while appearing to enjoy it with one hand on your waist, and the other on your chest. Hell no!

But dabbing was easy. It was a simple dance in which the dancer simultaneously drops the head while raising an arm and the elbow in a gesture that has been noted to resemble sneezing. As a Sports Illustrated article about the phenomenon described the Dab, “The dance is pretty simple; one leans in to their elbow like they’re sneezing."

Everyone caught the dab. I, Joey Akan, the overweight, balloon-waist, chubby, sexy Nubian god of love, could also dab. Before dabbing, I never danced in public. But now I could. Children sampled it on the streets, the boys made it fit into any song in the club. In the offices, ‘Team Dabbing Sessions’ was launched to foster teamwork and make the dream work. According to bosses, it boosted productivity by whatever percentage they care to slap on that lie. In churches, people dabbed to the glory of God, and praised the lord with a wonderful dab. He was also exalted with a dab offering, and Pastors executed the most hilarious religious dabbing to edify their brethren. At homes, your parents embarrassed you with dabbing, and your annoying Uncles called you to come display like a clown for a few bucks.

And it is at the juncture, that we have decided that the Dab is dead.
So, then, as all trends grow and come to pass, the moment has come for the dance move to be laid to rest, taken to a spiritual church, buried in some ancestral cemetery, and left to fester in the backpages of time.

Dab was first killed in the US, its home country. In an interview with TMZ, Quavo of the rap group Migos—who are widely recognized as one of the originators of "the dab," having immortalized it in the hallowed hallways of their Instagram and tracks like "Look At My Dab (Bitch Dab)"—signaled the death of the dance move. Asked about comments made by the NFL star Cam Newton regarding the expiration of the dance move, Quavo states "RIP" to "the dab." He then goes on to say, "You got to give everybody a new trend, a new wave or something new to do so I feel him on that. Everybody was copying it and now it's time to switch lanes."
But Nigeria is yet to catch on to the news. Our musicians still promote a dead culture in their music videos, and we all are still reluctant to let it go. It’s fine, all good things come to an end. Let’s all pour libation, cry our hearts out, and look sad while we go back to our chairs and wait for a new dance move.
Unless you're the sort of person who is still comfortable wearing ‘Ama Kip Kip’ t-shirts or a ‘spinners’ belt in 2016, this means it is now socially unacceptable to engage in "the dab" in public. Fear not, though, as we can always count on the YBNL boys to come up with something real quick.
Thanks for listening. Go into the world and dab no more.

How to Block Excessive Group Chat Notifications on Android

How to Block Excessive Group Chat Notifications on Android

If you have any group chats going, you're surely familiar with this scenario: One person sends a picture, then, within 30 seconds or so, all other participants chime in with one-word responses like "Cute," or "Awesome." It's a social nicety, so you have to expect this behavior, but that doesn't make it any less annoying when your phone randomly beeps and vibrates ten times in a row because of it.

Some chat apps like Facebook Messenger and Hangouts offer the ability to temporarily mute group conversations, but this has to be done manually. You could maybe set something up with Tasker to solve this issue, but that would be more trouble than it's worth.

To finally rid us of this well-known annoyance, developer iniro created an app that will automatically mute your ringer when you receive multiple messages at once. The first notification still beeps, but all others after it will be silenced, though you'll still receive the actual notification. It's a great solution to an age-old problem, so I'll show you how to set it up below.

*Requirement.

Step 1: Install Mutifier

To get this one going, the first thing you'll need to do is install the app, which is called Mutifier. Install Mutifier for free from the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Enable Notification Access

When you first launch Mutifier, the app will ask you to grant an additional permission. So press "OK" on this popup, then on the following screen, enable the switch next to the Mutifier entry, and press "Allow" when prompted. When you're done here, tap your back button once to head back to the Mutifier app.

Step 3: Set an Interval

Before we get to this next part, you should be aware of how the app works. Basically, after you receive one notification, Mutifier automatically mutes your ringer for a period of time. This means that the first message from a group chat will still cause your phone to beep, but the messages that come in for a period of time after that will not.

With that in mind, use the interface at the top of the app's main menu to adjust the time interval—this is how long your ringer will be muted after you receive the first notification. The default value here is 10 seconds, but I'd recommend going with something closer to 30 seconds, or even higher. Once you're done with that, make sure the "check to activate" box is ticked, then you can exit Mutifier and continue using your phone as you normally would.

Never Be Bothered by Excessive Notifications Again

From now on, you'll continue to receive notifications like you always have, but with one exception. When more than one notification comes through within your preset time interval, all of the notifications after the first one will be muted. You'll still see these notifications, but your phone won't vibrate or beep until after the interval you chose expires, so your group chats should be far less annoying from now on.

kindly leave a comment to serve you well.

Ben Bruce’s radio station was shutdown by Armed Ijaw youths in Bayelsa

Heavily armed members of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide on Thursday invaded the Rhythm FM radio station, owned by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The visibly enraged youths, who invaded the studio in buses and other vehicles, were after two executive members of the IYC and guests on a live radio programme, Talk of the Town, anchored by Lishman Onisodemuya.

It was gathered that the youths, on arriving the premises of the radio station, released gunshots into the air, forcing employees in both the radio and television studios of the Silverbird Group to scamper for safety.

The irate youths, Punch reports, broke into the radio studio, interrupted the programme and dragged out the National Mobilisation Officer of IYC, Mr. Wisdom Ikuli, and a self-acclaimed spokesman for the council, Mike Edounkimor, who were guests on the programme.

It was learnt that the youths allegedly beat Ikuli and Edounkimor to stupour with bruises all over their faces.

The radio studio was temporarily shut down after listeners heard people screaming and running for cover.

But policemen, who arrived the area, were said to have arrested and handcuffed the duo and taken them to the Ekeki Police Station in Yenagoa.

It could be recalled that crisis erupted in the association recently following the claims of six out of the 10-member executive council that the IYC President, Mr. Udengs Eradiri, and the council’s spokesman, Mr. Eric Omare, had been suspended.

The document purportedly suspending Eradiri and Omare was signed by the National Secretary-General, Bristol-Alagbariye Emmanuel; Director of Mobilisation, Wisdom Ikuli; Legal Adviser, Ekine Egberekro; Assistant Secretary, Deinkoro George; National Women Leader, Felicia Ngeri and Financial Sercretary, Kemepado Alfred.

The aggrieved executive members accused Eradiri and Omare of highhandedness and financial misappropriation. They went further to claim that they had replaced Eradiri and Omare with Mr. Elvis Donkemezuo and Edounkimor respectively.

But trouble was said to have started on Thursday when Ikuli appeared on the programme to respond to issues raised by Eradiri, who on Wednesday, was a guest on the same programme.

Ikuli was said to have invited violence when he announced on radio that Eradiri and Omare had been removed and warned them to stop parading themselves as the President and spokesman for the IYC.

Youths loyal to Eradiri, who heard the announcement and felt that their leader had been maligned, reportedly mobilised to the station to perpetrate the violence.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying that the command was handling the matter.

Actor, Yemi Blaq Reveals SOLE Reason For Poor Nollywood Movies.

Popular Nollywood actor, Yemi Blaq has blamed the existence of poor quality movies in Nigerian film industry on low budgets.

The veteran actor said low budgets in Nollywood are the major reason for the poor quality people see in Nollywood movies unlike films produced in Hollywood or Bollywood.
According to the actor,

”The disparity really is a question of budgets. when you see a regular movie in the states these days it’s shot with 200 million dollars, when you convert that, times 350, that is running into trillions, for one movie alone.

And here, if you shoot a movie for 50 million, it is a big budget movie. So the disparity is not in the contents, nor in the talents, it’s basically in the budgets.”
Yemi Blaq is a Nigerian actor, who came into industry in 2005. He has featured in over 250 movies and is one of the most famous stars in Nollywood, He also doubles as movie producer.
